Example 3: Junior Football Club

This example shows Contact Manager being used for football player/club information management. Whether you manage an entire club or you coach a team, you can make your job easier by using Contact Manager instead of multiple spreadsheets. You can record static (Date of Birth, Mother) data as well as historic data (Captain, Goals kicked, Awards) easily and then use the information for future reference, decision making and communication. You can easily bulk e-mail the entire club, a particular team, the team managers, the coaches or any other filtered group that you require.

As you can see in the example above, Alex is an U11's player who had a turn at being captain in round 14. He has also kicked 15 goals for the season so far. Note that Alex's grading is calculated from an expression which is based on his age. The 'Grade Offset' custom field is used to offset the calculated grade in cases where the player plays out of his usual age group. For example, if Alex was to actually play in the U12's age group, 'Grade Offset' would be set to 1. The 'Grade' expression mentioned is a custom functionality that you can easily modify, copy or adjust for your needs.

The techniques shown in the preceding examples are all generic and can be applied to and customized for any business type, sporting code, voluntary organization or individual needs. To enable the database to be utilized by many people remotely, all that is required is that you set up a remote desktop or terminal services system.
