Example Two: Motel Chain

The flexibility of Contact Manager can be demonstrated by showing its use for a medium sized motel chain. As you can see in the image at right, many custom fields are required in order to manage this type of record. 'Star Rating' and 'Units' are examples of custom fields. There is no limitations on how many custom records or fields that can be applied. 'Phone Conversation' is an example of a custom record. The data from custom fields and records can be used in calculations and formula just like any regular fields.

The image at right shows a filtered set of motel records that are ordered by the Motel name. The records can easily be ordered by any of the other columns. As you can see, all column data is derived from the custom field data. 'Years Service' and '% Chargeable' are actually calculated expressions. Of course, the data can be exported (csv format) exactly as shown for import into another program.

Aggregate data can also be easily produced as shown in the image at right. Again, this aggregate data includes columns which are calculated from custom data. In this example, the data is ordered by the total number of 'Units' in each country.

Printing with Contact Manager is powerful and flexible and enables full rich text editing as well as the use of graphic images. These examples show a business card, a mail merged document and a label sheet. Print reports and labels can also be saved to a PDF file for easy distribution or third party printing.
