Example One: Manufacturing

Within the context of a manfacturing company, you will store your client contact information for your staff to utilize on a daily basis. You will e-mail clients or client groups, record vital information such as appointments ,and phone conversation and look up contact details.

When it comes to your suppliers, you can easily find who your looking for by using the very fast search facility or by selecting one of your many and specific customized filters. Contact Manager provides you with the facilities to filter and isolate your records in any way you like. Once these filters are setup by one person in an organization, they are available to all users on the network. You can even send a bulk RFQ (request for quote) to any particular supplier group easily.

Your employee data can also be stored in Contact Manager. This can also include annual and sick leave data as shown in the example below. If you wish, you could record details of overtime, bonus payments, performace data or any other textural based information. Because you wouldn't want your staff to view or manipulate this sensitive information, Contact Manager has a private database which is password protected for this purpose. You may also wish to use the private database for your client information.

The uses of Contact Manager for a manufacturing or other business is only limited by your imagination. None of the functionality above is hard wired into Contact Manager and can be easily customized to suit your business. Some other possible uses are:

• the storing of important product details including serial numbers and passwords
• recording of notes and ideas for future reference
• managing your Christmas card list
• direct marketing to expand your client or customer base
• producing mailing labels or mail merge documents for marketing or other purposes (see the Motel Chain example for a summary of Contact Manager printing capabilities)
